Its color is a soft-hued of darker purple amethyst, spanning a range of pink hues.

It is different in tone and clarity from that of Rose Quartz.

Its color results from hematite inclusions inside the quartz points and spectroscopic analysis indicate that this form of Quartz is closer in its absorption to Amethyst than to either Rose Quartz or Pink Quartz.
